Amy Vigil is one of many longtime volunteers who help make the annual Rooftop Rodeo a big hit. After 20 Rooftop Rodeos, Cleveland has retired from the committee and will be a spectator for the edition of Rooftop Rodeo, set for 7 p. But Cleveland knows the undertone of the local rodeo, as do many others who have been on the committee for several years.
That resonates across the board, and the residents, tourists and contestants who make it to Estes Park in early July are the beneficiaries. Rodeo, as a sport, is a tip-of-the-hat to the days of yesteryear, when livestock was such a vital part of everyday lives. There are many opportunities for area businesses and residents to support our efforts and make a BIG impact on the youth who have worked hard to raise and qualify their animals and projects for participation in the Cleveland Livestock Show.
Students who participate in our show have a unique opportunity to experience completion of a project and rewards them for their effort, teaching them not only the value of hard work and discipline but the joy of raising award winning livestock and creating award winning projects.
Our events could not be held each year without the kindness, support and tireless hours of dedication of each of our volunteers. It also relies heavily on the financial support of our donors and businesses to meet our goals.

I think the people we have in place are doing an excellent job of making this year successful," Lewis said. Lewis said the board's goal is to continue growing the success the rodeo has enjoyed in recent years.
One of the most exciting additions to the rodeo lineup is Fiesta Cleveland, which is being organized by Jonathan and Kylie Sciortino of Cleveland. Fiesta Cleveland will take place at 3 p. This will be more of a horse show and rodeo combined with music.
It will have some of the same elements of an American rodeo but will embrace another aspect of our local culture," Kylie said. Fiesta Cleveland events include Mexican-style bull riding; Escaranuza Charras, the young ladies who compete in equestrian events while riding sidesaddle; Caballos Bailadores, the Mexican dancing horses; and Suertes Charros, fancy trick roping, sometimes while on horseback.
Unlike American rodeos, a portion of the arena will be set up for a Tejano band to perform during and between events, Kylie said. The CPRA-sanctioned rodeos, sponsored by Martin Dodge and Ram Rodeo, will feature wild steer saddling, bull riding, and mutton bustin', among other events. The rodeo queen contestants will be introduced during the rodeo on Friday but will not actually be crowned until 5 p.
Queen Contest Chairperson Tara Day said that while the rodeo queen is normally announced during the rodeo, it was changed this year because the rodeo falls on the same date as prom. Children 11 and under are free with a paying adult ticket. We leave registration open on the day of the event and invite any special needs kid in the audience to participate.
